Chapter Eight
Kim was asleep in her room. I wasnât sure what time it was, but it was getting dark outside. I donât know if it was all the vodka I'd drank or the two giant monster fights I'd just been in, but I was feeling pretty sleepy myself. Lying on the couch, I felt my eyelids grow heavy, dozing in and out. When I was out, it was just blackness. When I was in, I thought I could see Captain Knuckles licking Kim's prosthetic leg.
He was lying on the floor, and the leg was resting between his two front paws.
His slobber was all over it.
I tried to tell him to quit. I wanted to shoo him off and take the leg away from him, but I couldnât. My body was like a lumpy sack of dead weight. I was too damn sleepy to bring myself to do anything about it. Or even say anything, for that matter.
My mind screamed 'NO', but my body was already halfway to dreamland.
The last thing I saw before I drifted off completely was Captain Knuckles resting his head on Kim's leg.
