He had taken a few, dozen paces before he stopped and realized in the sudden glare of the moon that one set of foot prints was exceedingly small, about the same size as Sally’s. Had something frightened her to make her leave the campsite? He quickened his pace and hoped with all his heart that the nondescript pathway led to where the swampers had obviously taken her. It had to be back to the camp that the one old man named Sam, had mentioned earlier.
