Drill #1: Donât Drop the Ball
Put two shafts together, and slide a noodle onto the grip end of the top shaft. Stick both shafts in the ground at an angle (toward you), then take your address position with the right side of your head lightly touching the noodle. Make sure you set up with both tilts. Tee up a ball, then put a second tee in the ground to mark your ball position. Next, lodge a third shaftâor you could also use the back of a chairâin the ground just outside your right hip and slide a peg into the end of the grip. Place a ball on that tee (FIGURE 5.28). Now youâre ready. Make a swing, turning your right hip away from the shaft on the backswing and keeping your head against the noodle at all times (FIGURE 5.29). If you can control your hips and the top of your spine (your head), then you should maintain your tilts.
