Nora

A Few Weeks Later

My brothers have me on lockdown. I can't go anywhere without them hovering over me. It means I haven't seen a lot of Boris. The pub hasn't reopened yet. A fire restoration company did the best they could. The good thing is the firemen got to the pub and put the fire out before it spread past the game room. But there was some smoke damage to the main area.

"When can I reopen the pub?" I ask my brothers. It's the first time I've been here since the fire.

"The city has to deem it safe. The inspection is in a few days," Killian replies.

"Should I be worried?" Every time they mention inspection, my chest tightens. My biggest fear is they will shut my pub down, and everything my nana worked for will be gone.

Nolan shakes his head. "No. The fire restoration company said as long as the game room is closed up, you shouldn't have any issues. We can start tearing it apart after the inspection."

"Don't touch it. Until I know what the design will be, let it sit."

Nolan's eyes widen. "Are you crazy? The regulars are going to have a fit without the game room."

"Don't you mean you?" I smirk.

"Yeah, me included."

I tap my fingers on the bar and stare at the plastic covering the entranceway. "I need to find a designer. I can't hold off on remodeling much longer, but until I do, nothing is to be touched."

Declan snorts. "Just pick one. Stop being so picky."

"It's important I find the right person. I don't want to lose the authentic feel. Not every designer gets it. Actually, no one seems to, based on the ones I've spoken to."

"Boris said he might have someone for you to interview. His old designer bailed, and they were trying someone new out. I'll ask him," Killian says.

"No, I'll ask him. This is my business. You've all done enough. I can handle it."

Declan's phone rings. His face darkens. He exchanges a glance with my brothers and answers it. "Tell me you have good news." He continues to glance between Killian and Nolan.

Chills run through me.

"Tonight?" he says.

Killian cracks his knuckles.

I murmur to him, "What is going on?"

"Nothing. Stay out of it."

"We'll be there." Declan hangs up. He tells my brothers, "Be ready to leave at seven. Call Boris. See if he can watch Nora and if she can stay at his place tonight."

I huff. "Watch me? I'm not a child who needs a babysitter. And where are you going?"

"If we're not with you, Boris needs to be. We've already explained this," Killian states.

A night with Boris is all I'm craving. I haven't touched him in weeks since the hospital. But my bad feeling grows. "Where are you going to be all night?"

"It's not your business," Declan states.

"Don't—"

"Nora, don't ask questions we won't answer. Let's not waste our breath."

"Boris, are you able to watch Nora tonight? My brothers and I need to take care of something," Killian says into his phone.

"I don't
