Alone in the house, the animal raged. Chaffed and cursed at the need to feed but the inability

to move, to hunt.

As the minutes ticked by its hunger did not abate, it increased in fury and force.

By the time the sun was setting Stephen the man was locked deep away as the beast took

over. The moment darkness descended he was on the move, on the hunt.

No weak little victim would satisfy this rage. The beast sought out someone who was strong,

someone who could put up a fight. Someone it could totally annihilate.

It found Stephen down a darkened alleyway; a big brute of a man, who was towering over a

cowering smaller man. The knife in his hand was not necessary; for he was tiny, terrified, and powerless to defend himself against the brute.

His aim was to rob, rape and then murder this man. He grinned maliciously at him as he

waved the knife once more.

The beast found the brute before he could touch the smaller man.

The brute did put up a fight, but the demon brushed him away as though he were nothing.

They found the small man the next day. Sitting where it had left him; by the side of some

remains; they could not even identify for certain whether they were human remains, there was so little left; just some ragged old material torn to shreds, and slivers of bone. They tried to discover what had happened but the smaller man could not talk. He stared vacantly ahead and the only

sound he made was the odd little sob.

Stephen was back at the nightclub when Danny stopped by.

"You've been feeding!" The shock made his tone sharper than he would ever dream of using on Stephen.

"It's what we do." Stephen did not meet his brother's eye, but kept his gaze on the necessary paperwork that kept this nightclub legal.

"It's only an hour after sunset."

"I'm well aware of the time thank you."

"But....?" Danny stopped and frowned at his brother's down bent head in concern. He tried again. "I heard a police report on the way over here."

Stephen threw down his pen and glared up at his brother. "If you need to get something off your chest Danny, then can you please just get on with it, because I've got a lot to do tonight?"

"What's going on Stephen?" The quiet concern of his brother was enough to make Stephen feel uncomfortable.

He swept his hand threw his hair and swore softly to himself. "I'm sorry Danny, I've a lot on my plate at that moment, and this is something I need to work through on my own."

Danny stood staring down at his brother for a few moments before bowing his head in

acknowledgment. "Okay, but know that I'm here if you need me." He hesitated for another few seconds. "And be on your guard, because JR has been sniffing around lately, and you know that he's just waiting to catch you in a slip up."

"I know, I know." Stephen nodded tiredly. "I'll be more careful in future; tonight was something unexpected, I won't let that happen again.
