Sario stretched and yawned as he blinked his eyes open. He’d expected to see Aldrich and hoped the man had food with him. But the room was empty.

His stomach growled as he got up and showered. Dressed, Sario glanced at the door, then at the bed. Who was he kidding? With a smile, Sario face-planted onto the bed, sighing as he closed his eyes.

He wasn’t really sleepy, but his body was still sore and he wouldn’t mind lazing around in bed for the rest of the day. Maybe a nice, long soak in the tub wouldn’t hurt. His backside still ached.

Sario cracked his eyes open when he heard something that sounded like swishing water behind him. “Oh shit!” He jumped from the bed and fell to the floor. He scrambled to his feet when he saw the demon standing by the bathroom door, the portal swirling beside him.

And he had Sylvester clutched in one beefy fist.

“Run, Sario!” Sylvester fought to get free, but his punches and kicks didn’t even make the demon flinch. If anything, they pissed him off. He shook Sylvester until Sario swore his brother’s head would rattle right off his shoulders.

“Leave him alone!” Sario shot around the bed, his fists swinging as he tried to pummel the demon into letting Sylvester go. The demon swatted him away as if he were a pesky fly.

Then he barreled over to Sario and gripped his upper arm in a bruising hold. The demon didn’t say a word, but the look in his fathomless eyes scared Sario down to his soul. He’d never seen anyone with such uncaring, flat eyes before.

“Get off me!” Sario tried to yank his arm free as the demon pulled him closer to the portal. If he and Sylvester went through it, Sario had a feeling they would never be seen again.

The bedroom door crashed open and Aldrich and Xander raced in just as the demon pulled Sario into the vortex. “Aldrich!”

Aldrich paled as he raced across the room. Sario heard his mate shouting for him before all went quiet and dark.
