Swami Ramdev ji maharaj – a renowned Pranayama teacher in India claims to control cancer with kapalbhati and anulom-vilom, (the alternate nostril breath). He has proved its effectiveness with some patients in his ashram in India. According to him, any disease can be cured by the combination of Pranayama practice.
How to do Kapalabhati
Sit with your spine straight on the floor or on a chair
Exhale fully drawing the abdomen in towards the lower spine
Inhale inflating or pushing the abdomen or stomach out fully – this will not look flattering but is essential to get the breath right
Now exhale swiftly and sharply through your nose pulling your stomach in at the same time, the abdomen should be pulled in sharply along with your exhale as if you are ‘bouncing’ the belly backwards
Allow the inhale to follow naturally as a result of the sharp exhale, the inhale should be almost silent as your stomach pushes out again
Continue to exhale sharply and then inhale silently so that you breathe at a fairly fast rhythm (if in doubt, do it to the beat of ‘Nelly the Elephant’, a little faster if you can manage it!)
It’s important to relax as much as possible while doing this breath
The breath should come from right down in the lower abdomen if possible
Continue for about a minute, you can build to a longer round over time
When you have finished the round breathe out completely and then breathe in gently and retain your breath for as long as is comfortable without strain
After exhalation breathe normally for 5 rounds
Repeat the round once up to step 9
Lie down and relax for a few minutes
