I consider myself pretty levelheaded most of the time. But for some reason, right now I’m anything but. I waited twelve months for space to open up to start my gallery. Everyone in my family chipped in to make this happen- through sweat equity, making calls, even financially… And now look at me.

I can’t seem to say no to this, and I wonder if Griffin feels the same way. Then again, men like him think they own the place, wherever they are. Okay, bad example in this case, because Griffin Kade does own this particular place. That's exactly my point…

Does this man have the body of a god?

And then some.

But do I have any business whatsoever messing around with a man like him?

Not even close.

So why play with fire?

He's arrogant, bossy, and cares more about money than anything that’s actually meaningful in this life. At least that's what he pretends to be about. Because guys like him, I know the real story. Behind the long hours and the financial success, there is a human soul yearning for a deeper connection.

Let's face it, when it’s all said and done, this man is downright dangerous to my existence. He could have me evicted from his building in about five minutes. I worked my whole life to get up to this point. I poured my heart and soul into these paintings, and having this spot to sell them is crucial. If I don't get something going with my artwork, then I’m going to be relegated to being a restaurant server or I’ll be tending bar for the rest of my life. There's nothing wrong with those professions, they just aren’t the main reason I was put on this earth.

"You do realize I technically own your ass?" he says.

I narrow my eyes, not because I'm angry, but because this is the most attractive human being I've ever seen, despite his extreme ego. "Sure, and I’m sure someone owns your ass if we keep going up the rungs. Besides, I don't see anything wrong with two men having a small taste of each other, and then being on their way."

And when I say on my way, I mean forever.

"The thing is, Tristan, I've never met a man like you before."

"Is that your best attempt at a compliment?" I say.

Griffin reaches his hands out quickly and cups the sides of my face. "Well, I think you talk a big game. I think you pretend to have more confidence than you really do. But when it's all said and done, and when you're done pretending to be putting up a good fight, you can be bought out just like everyone else. I'm just saying, I never met a man who could pretend so well."

My breathing is heavy, and I feel so torn up inside. I'm horny as hell for this man, but equally pissed off. "You don't know me. You don't know anything about me," I say back to him.

Griffin tilts my head back and brings his mouth close to my ear.
