~Chapter 22~
Logan, Jake, and Dean are already sitting in one of the big booths when we get there. Chloe slides in next to Logan and Jake, leaving me to sit next to Dean.
I glare at her knowing full well what she’s trying to do, and she flashes me an innocent smile.
Innocent my arse.
The waitress, not Jessica this time, comes to take our order and when it’s done, I sit back and watch them all talking. Dean and Jake are talking about some football game, and Logan and Chloe are having their usual friendly snipping contest.
I wonder when they’ll realise how into each other they are.
My phone rings interrupting my thoughts. I pull it out and don’t recognise the number on the screen. Shrugging slightly I answer it.
“Um, hello?”
“Hola, Preciosa.”
The uncertainty in my voice evaporates, replaced by bored confusion. “Carlos?”
“Angel, what the fuck is he doing with your number?” Logan snaps at me.
I shush him so I can hear Carlos on the other end.
“I see your brother isn’t happy I’m calling you huh?” Carlos says and I roll my eyes at the smugness of his words.
“I’m not exactly pleased myself. How did you get my number?”
My eyes glance at Logan as he begins to curse, causing me to hold a hand over my free ear.
“Doesn’t matter how, just matters that I have. When you gonna let me take you out, baby?” Carlos purrs.
I sigh. “What part of no are you not getting?”
“Come on, baby, I know you want to.”
Inside I groan. When will he get it? “I really don’t. In fact, I’d rather stick pins repeatedly in my eyes. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m busy.”
He laughs now. “Okay, okay, I get it. We can at least be friends though, right?”
Um, no. Does he honestly think that’s possible? Just wow.
“I have enough friends, thanks.”
And with that, I hang up.
“So, who the fuck is giving my number out?” I ask them all, slightly annoyed at the inconvenience of the call. We were having a good time before that, and now everything feels tense. Anger is radiating from Logan.
“I don’t know, but I’m going to find out,” He spits out.
“It’s Diaz, he could have got it from anywhere. You know what he’s like, fucking asshole,” Dean says.
The guys all start discussing where he could have gotten it and I look over at Chloe, rolling my eyes. She nods slowly, showing me she’s just as exasperated as me.
The food arrives and we all start eating. Chloe and I discuss the plans for the weekend whilst we eat and the guys soon join in. There’s a big party at one of their friend’s houses Saturday night, which Chloe wants to go to, and apparently as her best friend, I have to go, too.
When we’re done, we pay the bill and head out. I take Chloe home and drive back to the house myself. I pull into the driveway and park facing the house front on. I sit back in my chair and pull my sketchbook out my bag.
