I wake to birds singing in the branches that sprawl out above us and what smells like a campfire. I stretch and let out a moan as I feel the soft blanket sliding across my naked body. I reach for Noah, but only find disappointment and his pillow from the night before. My eyes slowly adjust to the dappled light shining down on us through the trees, and holding the blanket to my naked breasts, I sit up and look around sleepily. I find nothing but the serene scenery of a gorgeous Midwest spring morning. We Midwesterners drudge through the cold, dark winter months yearning to be greeted by this warmth. It awakens our souls. It makes us feel alive again. After last night with Noah, I feel this more so now than I ever have.
âGood morning, beautiful. Sleep well?â He startles me as he grabs onto the side of the truck bed and climbs up onto the tire.
âNoah, good God, you about gave me a heart attack!â Holding the blanket to my breasts, I scoot over to him and get up on my knees to give him a good morning kiss.
âMmm, I donât think I will ever get enough of those soft lips.â He lingers for a few seconds, then pulls his lips away and nuzzles his nose to my cheek. âAfter watching you sleep for a bit, I decided to whip us up some breakfast. So I went to the woods over there and grabbed some wood for a fire. Now get some clothes on that fine ass of yours and come grab something to eat.â He drums his hands on the truck, smiling and jumping down to the ground.
I gather my clothes that are scattered all over the truck bed, throw them on, and go to check out this fire that Noah is talking about. He is crouched down, poking at the red, smoldering wood with a stick. He looks so fucking sexy, he literally takes my breath away. He is wearing a pair of gray joggers, a snug white T-shirt that shows off his defined muscles, and a pair of black running shoes.
He loves me? This gorgeous human being actually loves me?
He looks up at me, eyeing me intently as I sit down on the ground. Above the red-hot logs is a metal stand with a grate over it. On it is a pan full of sizzling bacon.
âPretty impressive. Breakfast over a campfire. Is there anything you canât do?â I smirk at him while he cracks four eggs beside the bacon. With a raised brow, he chuckles and rubs the back of his neck.
âYeah, there are a lot of things I canât do. But letâs just say that you get very resilient when a hurricane rips apart the city you live in and tears down your entire home.â I immediately regret being such a smart ass and push myself off the ground. I walk over to him and crouch down behind his kneeling body. Sliding my arms under his, I place my hands on his warm, firm chest.
