A DOG BED

SAM

Blue Daisy must think she’s in dog heaven,

in the Wilson sisters’ garden with her bone,

but where will she go tonight? At seven

thirty, when it starts getting dark out,

we’ll all have nice warm beds, but where will

Blue Daisy sleep? I can’t stop thinking about

her. Dad, I ask, is it okay if I use our old green

sleeping bag for a dog bed? He says, Good idea, Sam.

Blue Daisy can sleep here—the forecast is for rain

tonight. I find the sleeping bag, shake

it, fold it, and put it on the back porch. Before

I go out looking for Blue Daisy, I make

sure to put fresh water by her bed. If I

can get Blue Daisy to sleep at our house tonight,

maybe Dad will let me keep her. It’s worth a try.
