Kansas Fruit Biscuits

Years ago, I came across this enticing biscuit recipe in the Household Searchlight Recipe Book, published back in 1941 by an organization in Topeka, Kansas, devoted to "helping every woman who finds herself responsible for the management of a home and the care of children." I find the folding and stuffing technique fascinating, and the biscuits are, without doubt, some of the most delicious I've ever put in my mouth. What the dear ladies did with the leftover scraps of stuffed dough, of course, is anybody's guess. Notice that the biscuits are not baked very long and should be slightly moist inside.
