The problem with trying to find a soul mate for someone

you were in love with was that nobody ever seemed quite good

enough. Nick spent the next week camped out at the Starbucks,

observing Ethan as he worked, trying to see if he could figure

out Ethan's type.

Nick had gotten very good at reading people over the years,

and friendly as Ethan was, he definitely had his favorite

customers. Still, that didn't give Nick much to go on, as there

was no indication that Ethan was interested in any of them

beyond a general fondness for them as people.

Well, that wasn't entirely true. There was one guy, a college

student, who came in nearly as often as Nick, and he always

spent several minutes talking to Ethan when he could get away

with it. Then he would commandeer a table that gave him a

good view of the counter and do his homework.

Ethan always greeted the guy warmly, and the guy

obviously thought Ethan was made of sunshine and cotton

candy. It was a good match, a decent match, and by the time

Cupid was done working his magic, it would be a True Love

match. They could be happy together, and Nick could feel good

knowing that he'd done something to help that.

That would be enough. It would have to be enough. Nick

had made his choice long ago, and even if he hadn't, guys like

Nick didn't get guys like Ethan. Guys like Nick broke the Ethans

of the world because they were too wrapped up in themselves

to give it a second thought.
