The Bigger Picture
As word of my readings spread, more and more people reached out with the expectation of having an experience like one they’d seen on television. Refining my ability was, and will always be, a humbling process. As much as my clients could validate information immediately, they were often surprised when I’d focus more on what didn’t initially make sense. I held myself to a standard of at least 80 percent immediate validation, allowing for the balance of messages to be followed up later with other loved ones, in search of confirmation. I found that it was often the validation that came from people outside the reading that was the most poignant. For me as a medium, it presented my biggest challenge. With who, exactly, would a message find relevance? But when the message would finally land, I was often shocked at how wise were loved ones on the other side to involve others.
My job is to deliver what I feel and see as best as I can, and the rest is up to the spirit communicating and the client validating. If a spirit is unclear, or a client just doesn’t get it, there isn’t much I can do! Luckily, that doesn’t happen very often, and I’ve been consistently awestruck by the bizarre or confusing messages I’ve received that made perfect sense to their recipients. Sometimes they are later explained and validated by close family. Because context helps frame information, I think of a reading like a puzzle; sometimes you have to keep trying different angles until all the pieces fit. As each individual piece of information connects to the whole, it reveals a much larger picture.
If it weren’t for the client listening and being open to hearing the message, the seemingly random symbols, feelings, and impressions that come to me wouldn’t be much of a gift at all. The gift of reconnection comes from the details getting validated and placed within the proper context.
In order to provide a clear, strong, and concise reading, I also have to rely on the communication skills of the departed, which are incredibly diverse. Information comes through differently every time, which keeps me on my toes. There’s never a time when I’m not learning something new about myself, my ability, or a spirit’s ability to deliver messages.
Individuals will communicate in the best ways they can, using my five physical senses. Though I’m primarily visual (thus clairvoyant), I’m often surprised by the messages that are delivered through my other senses, whether it’s smelling a perfume, tasting someone’s favorite meal, or hearing a song that has sentimental meaning. Oftentimes it’s the details that I receive through these additional sensations that help “flesh out” what the individual is trying to communicate.
A spirit’s communication style tends to reflect their strengths in the lifetime they lived. Often, people who were visually oriented in life tend to better communicate with symbols and imagery, which are some of the easiest signs for me to read. Though they no longer have
