Thank you for sending the package of Mamička’s dishes, tablecloths, and decorations, and my kroje. It was very thoughtful of you, and they make me feel more at home here. I am still settling in, getting to know people, and learning how things are done in America.

Janos started a new job as a pipe fitter for a manufacturing company across the river in East St. Louis, which is actually part of the State of Illinois. He tried to explain to me exactly what he does, but I’m afraid it is not clear to me. When you come, he can tell you. He travels far by streetcar to the bridge and walks across the river. The new job pays higher wages, because he can speak and read a little English. He is very ambitious and wants more for us. He is learning to read and write English better to make more money. I am very proud of him.
