Junior and Laura rowed like crazy.

A Roman cucumber sat in front of the rowers and beat on a drum. The faster the drum beat, the faster everyone had to row.

“Are we there yet?” asked Ben Hurry.

“No! Increase to Impatient Speed!” yelled Max.

“Impatient Speed!” repeated the drummer, and he began to drum even faster. The rowers picked up speed.

“Are we there yet?” asked Ben.

“No!” shouted Max. “Increase to Freaky-Fast Speed!”

“Freaky-Fast Speed!” repeated the drummer. Then the cucumber began to drum so fast that sparks flew. The rowers rowed so fast that some of the oars snapped.

“This is crazy!” Junior gasped, trying to keep up.
