Chapter Seven

Bear

The next morning I’m hung over and worn out. Lucy was really fucking frisky last night and she kept me up most of the night. Not that I’m complaining but if she’s carries on like that, then she’s going to work me to a point!

Shaking my head and laughing to myself, I turn the corner to see Kristen sat with Bailey and Charlie having some breakfast. Kristen throws her head back in her laughter as I slowly make my way over.

“Oh look who it is.” Charlie looks at me, causing the little groups laughing to end.

Kristen’s happy expression turns blank as she watches me.

“Girls.” I nod towards the three of them.

“How was your night?” Kristen asks, looking slightly annoyed and if I didn’t know any better, a hint of jealousy to the tone of her voice.

“Tiring.” I can’t help but tease and all three girls scrunch their face in disgust. I know I shouldn’t taunt her, but I can’t help myself obviously. “Can I have a quick chat with you Kristen?”

Kristen smirks. “No.”

She then turns her back to me, returning to her drink and ignoring me.

“Come on.” I try to persuade her. “I won’t be long.”

Kristen turns back to face me. “I’m not bothered about anything you have to say Bear. I’m busy.” I go to ask her again, not wanting to give in. I want to have a serious chat with her, about us. “Go and play with your new friend, I’m with friends and don’t have time for you.”

I’m shocked at how angry she sounds with me. We’ve always joked around but this time she sounds serious. I don’t know how to react. Charlie and Bailey look slightly awkward being caught in this but Kristen is her usual self and looks like she doesn’t give a shit. Slightly pissed off but she covers it with her armour of bitchiness. Approaching the table next to them, I grab a chair and drag it along the floor towards their table. Even though there is an empty spot beside Bailey, I pull up my chair on the end of the table, the closest available space to Kristen. A look of shock appears on her pretty face but it’s quickly gone, her stone like expression back in place.

“I’d rather talk with you alone.” I lean in closer to Kristen.

She gives me an annoyed look. “You can say whatever in front of the girls.”

Bailey and Charlie exchange looks. “We can go?” Bailey questions Kristen but Kristen shakes her head.

“Stay where you are.”

Charlie smirks down at her hands and Bailey nods, her own smirk hidden under her hands as she leans her elbows on the table.

I take a deep breath, swallowing down my pride. “Me and Lucy aren’t anything serious. She’s just a good time, until the one I want lets me close.” I can’t help but smirk and Kristen’s eyes widen but she eventually cracks a smile of her own.

“Wow Bear.” She giggles. “Sucks to be her.”

I can tell she liked what I had to say.
