I couldn't relax by the pool.

For the rest of the day, all that I found myself doing was looking around for Trent. Hoping that I wouldn’t run into Trent. Hoping that I would run into Trent.

I found myself wondering what on Earth he could have met by the real reason for our break-up.

Is there an actual reason? Will this give me the closure that I never actually got? Is that worth having a conversation about?

As I thought these things, I would look over at Brad and see what the future looks like for me.

I told myself that I shouldn't even bother with these questions anymore. That maybe this is just a way for Trent to try to have some sort of control over me. That he only showed up because I'm getting married.

I'm in a good place. Why ruin that by trying to dive into the past?

There's nothing there for me but more heartbreak.

Last night, in my bed, I stare at the ceiling fan swirling above me. I wish that Brad were in bed with me. He would provided the sort of anchor that I needed to not leave this room.

But without him here, the bed feels huge and the questions in my head are just becoming bigger and bigger.

I stand up out of the bed. I slip on a pair of sneakers and threw a sweatshirt on over my head.I know that nothing is open downstairs at this time of night, but maybe I can at least get a water from somewhere. Maybe I can just get a look at the water and remind myself why I wanted to get married here in the first place things will start to make sense for me again.

I take the elevator downstairs to the lobby.

And I find that I am not the only one awake.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," I say, when I see Trent sitting on a couch downstairs by himself.

"What are you doing awake?” he asks me.

"I couldn't sleep. Something about my ex-boyfriend showing up to stop my wedding is kind of turning me into an insomniac."

I walked past him to where I see a picture of water on a small bar and pour myself a glass. He stands up and follows behind me.

"I can't sleep either," he tells me, very close to me now. So close that I can smell his deodorant. He smells really fucking good. "something about the love of my life getting married in a couple of days to someone who isn't me."

I turned to look at him. We are very close now. My chin is practically brushing against his chest. And that aches that I felt earlier with Brad has now turned into an inferno inside of me.

This is bad.

This is really bad.

I should not be wanting Trent Salt right now. And yet, in my mind, I am imagining him lifting me into the air as I wrap my legs around his waist and he takes me outside and fucks me on one of those lawn chairs.
