Cherry-Raspberry Slushie

“So, darling, I brought you some Monster Trackers. Delish, right?” Syra walked over to the green thing and picked up a broom that was lying on the floor next to it. She stroked its slimy back with the bristles as it made a grunting, purring sound. The ground rumbled above and Egon T realized that it was all of the possessed making the same sound.

“You’re gonna eat us?” WK asked, worry in his voice.

Egon T stared at the blob, which he understood was a green worm with a ton of phosphorescence surrounding it, along with hundreds of thin rice-noodle-like strands sticking out. Each strand was alive, sizzling with some sort of electromagnetism. The thing was disgusting, slimy wet-looking yet electrified. Shocking!

“Of course he won’t eat you. He just wants you for your mind!” Syra said jubilantly. She let out a little squeak laugh at her lame joke.

“I SUPPOSE YOU’RE WONDERING WHY I ASKED YOU HERE TODAY!” the worm bellowed. “I AM CHERAZPIE!”

Egon T could hear the echo above the ground, around fifty feet up, from thousands of beings on the beach. He hoped the ground wouldn’t cave in. Who had built this underground room anyway? Did the worm burrow down into it and eat away the dirt?

“You said that already, worm!” Wolfman Zed said. “So shut your wormhole!”

“Don’t get him mad,” Egon T warned.

“Thing’s already green,” WK stated. “I don’t think he’s gonna hulk.”

“So?” the werewolf challenged. “Who gives a f—”

“SILENCE!!” the glob bellowed, showing a gaping circular mouth rimmed with sharp little teeth. He looked more than capable of consuming them and expelling them out his back end like the dirt as worms were prone to doing.

Benhead toddled over to the worm, deciding for whatever reason, or no reason, as babies often lacked any reason other than good old-fashioned curiosity, and picked up one of the strands. Instantly, sparks emitted from the strand up to the baby dwarf’s hand, up his fat little purple arm, across his chest, through his neck, into his brain… Benhead shrieked as his whole body stiffened and his eyes rolled back in his head, showing only his sclera. His purple eyelashes batted as he opened his mouth to speak.

“I serve you, Master Cherazpie,” Ben said in his normal real life Ben voice before he fainted, falling on the dirt floor of the underground room.

“Benhead!” Princess Lilly screamed. “No!”

“What have you done to him?” WK yelled. He fell to his knees and pulled Benhead over to him by his head, cradling it in his lap. “Benhead, Benhead,” he sobbed to the unresponsive dwarf. Buddy scampered over, placing his paws on the baby, whining as he did so. Benhead lay there, his eyelids trembling.

“HE IS JUST FINE, AS YOU WILL SEE!” Cherazpie roared. “RISE, SUPPLICANT! DO YOUR MASTER’S BIDDING!”

“No!” shouted Egon T, WK, and Princess Chili. Buddy growled, baring his teeth at the worm. The worm growled back. Buddy didn’t retreat, although he moved no closer.

Benhead’s little body rose from WK’s grasp as if someone had pulled a string from above, dangling him in an eerie puppeteer’s dance.
