Because the CASIA SS-1000 swept-source Fourier-domain AS-OCT has the advantage of rapidly being able to obtain data across the entire circumference of the anterior chamber angle, three-dimensional measurements can be calculated, such as anterior chamber volume and iris volume [6, 7]. The trabecular-iris circumference volume (TICV) described by Rigi et al. integrated TISA from 256 angles (128 cross-sectional images) over 360 degrees (Fig. 6.3) [6]. Additionally, the high level of resolution provided by the CASIA SS-1000 allowed for the identification of a histopathologically confirmed structure termed the band of extracanalicular limbal lamina (BELL) in the limbal sclera of the anterior chamber angle (Fig. 6.4) [8]. Although the functional significance of this layer has not been fully elucidated, it is believed to lend structural support to the trabecular meshwork and Schlemm’s canal [8, 9].
