readying itself to be greenness.
Gaia, fast sleep in her wedding shroud,
warming her genes for resurrection.
Thaw
Iâve pulled back the curtain
to look at the day,
stale already from its dull incubation
in yesterday and the day before.
Sodden melt for a garden.
A sour milk sky.
How alike they are.
The light spreads now
as the sun sweats into it â
a clutch of forgotten sweets
gone soft in their sticky paper.
