Continuous delivery versus continuous deployment

CD helps in the application life cycle by deploying the application to production so that the latest change in the application will reach the end users automatically as part of the CI/CD process without any manual intervention. The same CI/CD tool or a dedicated tool can be used for the continuous deployment process, depending on your application’s nature, environment, and dependencies.

The deployment can be part of the CI/CD pipelines or a separate trigger for the deployment tool, such as Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) (you will learn how to integrate Ansible inside the CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins in Chapter 12, Integrating Ansible with Your Tools).
