The next morning, Julia was getting dressed for school. She had a nervous feeling in her stomach. She picked out one of her fanciest dresses, studied herself in the mirror, and thought, “Hmmm … do I look pretty?” Julia looked closely at her hair, her eyes, and her smile. She wanted everyone at school to think she looked pretty.

Julia loved the way her blue polka dot dress looked with her green shorts but she wanted to add some finishing touches. Julia tied a yellow bandana in her hair to keep her bangs out of her face. Then she attached a furry tail to the back of her dress because sometimes she liked to pretend she was a kitten.
