Chapter Thirty-One

Grace

A tug on her mind from someone trying to contact her via mind link tore Grace from sleep and she sat up groggily. She glanced down at Sawyer’s sleeping form and felt warmth flood her as memories of the previous night played like a highlight reel in her head.

Well, fuck.

She closed her eyes. A part of her had hoped the entire thing had been one very detailed, very realistic dream. Even in the throes of passion she’d kept that fantasy, fearful if she considered the reality too much she might turn and flee like she had been doing since Sawyer had entered her life and thrown it into chaos.

As much as she wanted to blame her wolf for what had transpired, it was completely on her. Waking up to Sawyer’s body embracing her had sent her arousal sky high and she hadn’t been able to resist. And then she hadn’t been able to stop herself.

The throb between her thighs was evidence of how rough Sawyer had been towards the end, and she couldn’t help grinning. It was a pleasant reminder of how dominant he was, and how good it had felt to submit to him. At least in bed.

“What?”

“Apologies, Alpha. It’s a little after ten and Alpha Sawyer’s gamma was wondering where he was?”

There was a note of laughter in Jerry’s voice, and Grace felt her cheeks flame as she glanced down at Sawyer once more. His dark lashes rested against his tanned skin and his stubble was even more pronounced than it had been when he’d first arrived. Dishevelled and sexy and satisfied.

“He’s…fine.”

“Oh, I think the entire packhouse knows how fine he is, Alpha. By the way, there’s breakfast outside your door.”

Grace groaned at the fact most of her pack would be aware she had spent the night screwing around with a visiting alpha, but it was unavoidable. Packhouse walls were only so thick, and shifter hearing meant little was private unless you took efforts to make it so. And that hadn’t exactly been the first thing on her mind the night before.

She slid out of bed and grabbed her robe before retrieving the breakfast tray from behind her door, thankful for the consideration of her beta. Though she planned on kicking his ass for the sass. Marvelling that she’d slept so long, she couldn’t remember the last time she hadn’t been up at the crack of dawn, training or not.

All because she’d been curled up with her mate.

She stood there for a moment with a million thoughts crowding her mind. She didn’t regret it. She couldn’t. It had been too…what had he said, perfect? She gripped the breakfast tray and leant her forehead against the door, sighing deeply.

But…she had no idea what to do next.

Could they see each other casually? Alphas with benefits? She flared her nostrils at the thought. No way would that be enough for Sawyer – he had wanted her as his mate before the insanely hot sex. He would be even more committed to claiming her now.
