Chapter Four

Dean’s biceps flexed right in front of her face, and Andi wanted to run her tongue along those thick muscles. Unfortunately, there was a garage full of men working on various parts of the car and a cameraman was wedged into the mix with them, recording every movement Dean and she made. They were trying to get the new dashboard they’d designed installed on the little VW Bug, and even though there were no seats in the car right now, they were still in tight quarters. Moisture slid in beads down her skin, she was upside down on the floor of the passenger side, the oversized mechanic’s shirt they’d turned into a belted dress tucked around her thighs for modesty’s sake. Her heel was jammed against the metal bar that would eventually hold the backseat as she strained to hold the dash up for Dean to screw it in place. The dash bobbled as he slammed his hand against something that sounded painful. “Shit, piss, mother-fucking piece of crap.”

She glanced up at the camera and winked. “Sweat and swearing…it’s how the real work gets done on Revved Up.”

A chuckle rumbled from Dean and he shot her a quick grin. Another thirty seconds and he had the dashboard secured. Sighing, Andi relaxed for the first time in hours.

“That was great.” Lola peeked in over her cameraman’s shoulder. “What are y’all going to work on next?”

Dean swiped a hand down his face and looked into the camera as he answered. “Now that we’ve got the dash in, Sanchez is going to install the sound system.” He motioned to an open hole in the console. “He’ll wire it to the speakers throughout the car, and when he’s done we’ll set Jesse loose on finishing the custom interior.”

At this point, they had it down pat that when Lola asked something, they needed to basically repeat the question in the answer for a better sound bite. They had to pretend the producer wasn’t there asking them anything, and instead have a natural conversation with the piece of equipment attached to the cameraman’s shoulder.

Lola and her crew turned to speak to Sanchez, who hovered outside, impatient to start on his new system. The skinny Mexican had a thick accent and tattoos from his bald head down to his feet. Every visible inch of skin was covered in black ink. But he had a gift for car electronics that made each overhaul unique.

Andi took the opportunity to pull herself upright and out of the car without accidentally flashing the camera. She kept one hand on the hem of her dress to keep it down.

“What are you wearing under that thing?” Dean’s voice was a silken whisper in her ear, and she tensed.

Lust sparked inside her, but so did pain. Jesus, she couldn’t take much more of this, being his sex toy. She’d thought she could do an affair, but after two weeks, she just wanted to crawl out of her own skin. Even telling herself it was just sex hadn’t kept her from wishing for more.
