Thrower and St. James made it out of France without further incident. They were leery about traveling to Spain via plane after what had happened the last time they stepped off a flight. Luckily, there wasn’t a repeat of that experience.

They checked into a luxurious hotel in Spain, which was paid for by the company that had hired St. James for the shoot. They were only supposed to be there for three days. It was a very private resort that also had a huge outdoor swimming pool. St. James couldn’t resist taking a dip.

She urged Thrower to join her in the pool, but he declined. He was still on guard. And even though the pool was only open to guests, he’d seen and heard too many stories of people being in places they didn’t belong. Besides, he was quite content just watching her swim in the bikini she had on.

Thrower, after standing for a while, figured he looked out of place and eventually sat down on a lounge chair. He didn’t do any relaxing on it, though. He was still sitting upright, with his arms draped over his knees, leaning forward in case he had to suddenly spring up and pounce on someone.

St. James had been swimming for an hour before she finally got out of the pool. She didn’t bother putting a towel on. She walked right over to Thrower and sat on his lap, kissing him on the lips.

“You don’t mind me getting you wet, do you?”

Thrower grinned. “No, but I’m supposed to be staying focused.”

She kissed him again. “I like what you’re focusing on right now.”

Once their lips parted, Thrower took a deep breath. “This is what I was talking about. Instead of focusing on your lips, I should be watching to make sure nobody dangerous has just walked outside.”

With her arms around Thrower’s neck, St. James spun her head from side to side to see if there was anything to worry about. “Nope. No dangerous spectators to be found anywhere.”

“Monica, you know what I’m saying. And I didn’t even want you out here to begin with.”

“Nate, we’ve gotta have some fun while we’re here. I mean, we’re at the hotel swimming pool. It’s not like I’m insisting on going out to nightclubs and seeing the town all night. Is this really that bad?”

Thrower shook his head. “No, it’s not. And I do appreciate that you’re not one of those divas I sometimes read about who insists on doing things that would compromise their safety.”

“Exactly. I’ve done everything you’ve wanted me to do up to this point.”

“I know. And I said I appreciate it.”

She tugged on his shirt. “You sure you wouldn’t like to take that off and join me in there?”

“No can do.”

“Didn’t think so.” She leaned over and kissed him again. “Maybe later I can persuade you to get wet with me by joining me in the shower. We can lock all the doors and move all the chairs and furniture in front of them to prevent anyone from breaking in.
