About ninety individuals in the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and that includes King, were prosecuted under a law prohibiting conspiracy to block the operation of a firm. Found guilty, King instantly appealed the choice. In the meantime, the boycott stretched on for more than a year, and the bus company had a hard time to keep from insolvency. On November 13, 1956, in Browder v. Gayle, the USA Supreme Court supported a lower court's choice announcing the bus company's partition seating policy unconstitutional under the equal security provision of the fourteenth Modification. King, cancelled the boycott on December 20, and Rosa Parks-- referred to as the "mom of the civil liberties movement"-- would be among the first to ride the recently desegregated buses.
