5.7.6 Scattering/Diffraction

If the LOS path between the transmitter and the receiver is obstructed, the signal arrives at the receiver via reflections from the objects or by diffraction or bending. mmWave frequencies experience lower diffraction but more shadowing and reflection [45] relative to the lower frequencies. Then, the greatest contribution at the receiver is reflected power, which is strongly dependent on the reflectivity of the objects. Furthermore, the shorter wavelengths of the millimeter waves cause the reflecting surfaces to seem rougher. This causes greater diffusion of the signal and less specular reflection.
