Design and build some more balancing toys.

Place the ends of a yardstick or meterstick on the index fingers of your outstretched hands. Slowly slide your hands together. At what point do they meet on the stick? Can you explain why they meet there? Now place a lump of clay near one end of the yardstick or meterstick and repeat the experiment. Where do your hands meet this time? Can you offer an explanation? Design an experiment to test your explanation.

Investigate how the center of gravity is related to sports. Of special interest might be the claim that a pole vaulter’s center of gravity passes under, not over, the bar.
