Chapter 7
It was Thursday. Priscilla and I were in class. At least something had gone completely back to normal. And there was the Ball to look forward to â Priscilla and I gossiped about it whenever we could. We passed notes in class sometimes, too. I liked this new Priscilla, testing boundaries, trying different things.
When the lecturer relieved the room to find something for a slider she was missing, Priscilla turned to me.
âWhat are you going to wear?â She asked.
It wasnât the first time sheâd asked me, but I had no idea. I hadnât thought about it. There were too many other things going on. I had managed to make up with Theo, but not in a way that was satisfying. I was sure that he wasnât mad at me, but that didnât mean that he wasnât disappointed.
And Dracus still seemed to be worked up over Enrique, unsure if he was the bad guy. Which meant that thinking about dresses to the Ball just wasnât on my list of priorities.
âI will ask Enrique to help me choose something out,â I said. âHe bought most of my wardrobe, anyway.â
âAnd youâll be going with him, among others, right?â
âWe havenât talked about it,â I admitted. âTheo was the only one who came to ask. The rest of them have been on their own mission.â
âWell, if you ask him to help you with outfits, youâre not going to tell him that you are going together. It will be an automatic invite.â
âWhat are you talking about?â I asked.
âCome on, Fiona,â Priscilla said, sounding exasperated. âI know that this whole shifter thing is new to you, that you arenât used to the concept of having feelings for more than one person now that you are a Calm. But surely, you know how it works with guys, right? I mean, youâre not twelve.â
I rolled my eyes. âThanks for that.â
âYou canât ask Enrique to help you with outfits and then think heâs going to ignore the whole thing.â
I pulled up my shoulders. I knew Priscilla was right, I just didnât want to admit it.
âWhat about you?â I asked. I hoped that turning their attention to Priscilla would take her away from the guys and who I was going to go with. Because even though I would have liked to go with all of them, the logistics were complicated.
Priscilla smile, her cheeks turning Rosie. âI asked my mom a while ago to send me something special.â
âWill she have enough time?â I asked. Priscillaâs mom made her beautiful outfits and send them along every now and then. She had made me an outfit once, too. The woman was pure magic when it came to sewing.
âOf course, I knew about the Ball a lot sooner than you did, remember? I asked her with more than enough time to spare. It should be arriving sometime early next week.â
âExplain it to me,â I said.
Priscilla shook her head. âAbsolutely not! Itâs a surprise.â
I grinned. Priscilla was excited about this, I could tell. When I
