Chapter Seven – Fiora

Where the hell am I? She blinked fully awake. Her head pounded, and her throat felt itchy and dry. Taking in the sight of a polished, opulent apartment, she searched her memory for the events of what had happened last night.

I went to the ball with Ben. She examined the white blanket on her, and shoved it off to see she still wore her blue dress. Did he take me back to his place? No sign that anything happened, thank goodness. All of her clothes were intact. What happened? Why is my memory blanking? Her eyes settled on a piece of paper on the table next to her, and a glass of water. She shifted her body, reaching for the paper. It read:

Hey, Fiora. Welcome to my (Ben’s) apartment. I took you here because I didn’t know where you lived, and I didn’t want to leave you in the street somewhere. I had a great time with you, but unfortunately at some point in the evening, that time was cut short. I think someone drugged one of the drinks you took. I don’t know what kind of drug, but you were barely able to function, and I figured it best to get you out of the place and back home.

Please help yourself to whatever’s in the fridge. I highly recommend that you don’t take any of the beers. There’s water bottles, orange juice, and teabags in the cupboard to the left of the faucet. I have cereal and oats if you’re hungry. Bathroom is the second door on the right. Spare towels on the rack. I tend to sleep in on Sundays, so I would appreciate if you can be quiet. If you plan to leave before I wake up, I would like a message from you to confirm you’re okay from the events of last night.

Her heart filled with warmth upon finishing the letter, and she clutched it tightly. How kind of him. She didn’t remember too much of last night, but accidentally consuming a drug designed to knock out people like her definitely explained the blank. She reached for the glass of water and ended up gulping all of it down in one go. Man, she’d been thirsty for that.

Who drugged me, I wonder? She tried to think of the conversations she’d endured at the ball. She didn’t catch any animosity from most of the people she spoke to, though there were a couple of women less than impressed with her. Sure, there’d been stares, but she assumed it was because barely anyone leaning on the more human side of things had attended. The ball seemed exclusively for the werewolf population, and Ben had tried his best to make her feel included, rather than left outside the circle.

I hope I don’t have to attend another one of those anytime soon, she thought, before rolling off the sofa and heading to the bathroom. It took her a minute or two to figure out the shower
