Chapter Thirteen: Foray

Girish drove overnight to return back to Lucknow. He had to host a national level conference called, ‘Youth Entrepreneur Summit, 2020’. Rudra was going to miss this event. So, he had to make this event, a success, only with the help of other employees. The conference was supposed to take place at his head office in the city. Around fourteen young entrepreneurs were selected from 21 states of the nation by the ‘Pan-India Business Committee’, funded by Ministry of MSME’s. All the participants had to give their presentations about their new start-up ideas. Girish was to invest his money among the top four ideas. As he reached home at the midnight, he could merely sleep for three-four hours. Mrs Singhania woke him up early in the morning so that he could reach his office in time. She prepared breakfast for him.

Rana Kapoor was back from his ‘emergency-leave’. He was said to be returned from an unofficial business tour of Nepal and Bangladesh. He was among one of the jury members for the summit, along with four other senior employees of the company. Girish had his breakfast early. He had vitamins and minerals rich food because the day was going to be hectic. So, he was required to be vigorous throughout the day. Soon, he left for the office. He got a WhatsApp text in his office group about the arrival of the guests. He got information that they would arrive in the office around 10 AM. He put on his spectacles and started reading some official papers on his way to the office. Page after page he was reviewing everything keenly. It was not a new thing for him. He had already guided many entrepreneurs to climb new heights in industrial sector. Girish was not just a name it was a ‘Brand’. Anything that comes into the market with his company’s logo on it, it was sold in a very less time. He was, according to him, a self-made millionaire. The reputation he had earned was un-comparable. He had worked diligently throughout his professional career. Though he got this establishment in inheritance, but he made it grow in multiple figures in a short epoch of time. When his father was in-charge of the company, he used to show keen interest in father’s business tactics. Every night when they sat together on the dining table, he asked his father about the manufacturing of carpets.

He, like Rudra, had minuscule interest in studies but his practical familiarity had always been his metier. Because of this, he couldn’t complete his graduation. Then, after the sudden illness of his father he was forced to take over the driving seat of the company. Rana Kapoor’s father, Sanjay Kapoor was also a promising candidate for the post of managing director. But Girish’s father considered his son to be superior. According to him, it was a well-thought-out decision. Although, Sanjay was a brilliant mind and the right hand man of Girish’s father. He was senior to Girish, in experience.
