leaned in, chanced it

flickering out of reach.

To press my ear there,

or follow it to where

it swept so hurriedly

down, out of sight.

To disappear like the night

burning its stars before

trailing off. But how far?

And how long?

Now it becomes a question,

hook-bite on my tongue.

Little creatur-ish. Little pilot.’
