“So did I.” Adrian looked up. For a moment their eyes met and Wayne was shocked by the naked vulnerability he saw there before Adrian looked away. “What did you do to your hand?”

Wayne followed him to the bathroom without a word. He surrendered his bleeding thumb to Adrian and watched him put on the gauze and adhesive tape. “I’m sorry I swore at you,” he said at last.
