In chapter I we presented the fatal consequences of the sexual revolution that were worsened by modern misconceptions regarding human progress. John Paul II notes that the contemporary man incorrectly tends to define human progress in terms of scientific and technological achievements.849 Seeing that the use of technology has an immense impact on human existence, American theologians expand the Pope’s succinct assertion, showing that the development of modern science depends on a sound anthropology. Now we will deepen the Pope’s theology of the body in connection to bioethics, “the study of ethical questions arising from the development of the biological sciences.”850
