Aleks

Aleks swallowed hard. He'd been about to say human.

She was a human. The only reason he should never have touched her. And yet he had. What the hell had gotten into him? How had he lost control that way? Probably the fact that he'd been celibate for a year. That would make any man lose control.

But she was a human and that was unacceptable.

She was staring at him now, her jaw tight as she opened her mouth to respond.

He cut her off. "You're a convict. There is no future for . . ." He waved a hand between the two of them. "For this. It just can't happen. I won't allow it."

She laughed softly. "You won't allow it? You didn't seem to be complaining too much a few minutes ago, were you? Where were your principles then?" She shook her head, glaring at him. "It doesn't matter anyway. Just a bit of sex to scratch the itch. Not like straight sex was easily available at the snap of my fingers while I was in the slammer."

Aleks found his eyebrows rising in disbelief.

Irina's eyes simmered with fury as she reached into the water. He could smell the anger drifting off her heated skin. "Not that I mind sex with girls," she spat as she sank into the water and shimmied into her bathing suit. "But a real live penis is a treat. Unfortunately, taxpayers won’t approve of supplying us cons with BOB's while incarcerated."

Each word fell from her lips like little barbed arrows. And Aleks found he had to force his lips from curling.

She was a fucking human. Someone he'd never have agreed to sleep with. And yet her feistiness was making him feel protective, and proud of her. He must be fucked in the head.

Then he frowned. "Who is Bob?"

Irina snapped the strap of her bathing suit onto the shoulders, the sound loud and sharp in the grotto. "Battery operation boyfriends." She surged from the water like a Grecian goddess, hot droplets falling from her body as she stepped onto the small step and then outof the water. "One of them would have been a damn sight more appreciated than an overbearing, pompous prick like you." She fairly vibrated in front of him, the wet fabric clinging like a second skin, her nipples taut, her curves still so enticing.

He cleared his throat as she stepped down and strode toward the outer door.

He wasn't sure what to say. He knew he should get out and follow her, but her fiery anger had made him hard all over again and getting out of the water now would just bring his state of arousal into the spotlight. His damned body was betraying him.

Not that he had a chance either. She paused as she flung open outer door. "And don't worry. I won't force my criminal intentions on you. All you need to do is recover fast so that I can get the hell out of here."

And then she was gone, steam swirling after her before the door slammed shut.
