My husband and I were at her photo studio taking Christmas pictures. We’d already done our Christmas family pictures back in November, and this shoot that we were doing now with Askiya was just something she wanted to add to the Christmas portfolio that she was advertising online. This was a sexy shoot. Askiya had asked me earlier in the month if we would do it because she was an artist, so she knew these pictures were going to turn out in the way she had imagined it.

This wasn’t my first time working with Askiya on a business level. She was someone that I considered a best friend, although Normani would be jealous as hell if she heard me say that. Askiya shot my maternity pictures, she did the triplets’ first month pictures, and at two months, we all took family pictures together. Her work was amazing. She had the ability to capture things and get anyone to stare at it in awe.

Right now, I was sitting between my husband’s legs in nothing on but a sexy red negligee. He was behind me in red silk pajamas with his shirt undone. His long hair was parted down the middle, and it was in a wavy look because I took out his braids and combed through them. My hair was in its curly state with a side part, so the hair that fell in the front could cover the scar that I had on my forehead, although the make-up that I’d applied had already done a good job.

It’s been a week since the attack, and honestly, I feel like I had just calmed down from it. That experience had shaken me up so badly. Because I was scared shitless, I hadn’t left the house without my gun since that day. I had to be protected, especially since I learned the hard way that I wasn’t exempt from someone pulling up and robbing me. I didn’t ask my husband anything about what he’d done to those men when he came back home to me that night. I just remember him spooning me from behind and the feel of him pulling me closer to him after taking Mason out of the bed with us.

That night, Markell picked up my ring finger and placed my ring back on my finger and had me look on my dresser to see that my phone and purse were right there. I knew not to even ask him what he’d done because he wouldn’t tell me. Those weren’t the kind of conversations that he would have with me.

“Naomi, look at him over your shoulder. Don’t smile. Just give a seductive look,” Askiya coached, coming over with the camera in her hands and standing above Markell and me.

I did what she told me to do, and Markell looked at me the way he did right before we had sex.
