CHAPTER 12:
CASH FLOW/ PROJECTIONS
Section 12 should be the Cash Flow / Projections. This is the largest section of the plan, with a total of nine pages that cover all the financial details about the business. The first page of the section will explain and recap the spreadsheets and graphs that follow. The spreadsheets and graphs include a revenue analysis, breakeven point, a one year monthly P&L, one, two, and three year P&L’s, a balance sheet, and one, three, and five year income graphs.
Modify the paragraphs below for your business.
The following pages include multiple tables and graphs to outline the financial projections and potential cash flow of Springfield Ice Cream Shop. Each one utilizes the plans and projections included throughout each section of the business plan.
Springfield Ice Cream Shop will generate revenue from three product lines or revenue streams. The following page shows that two of these revenue streams, the ice cream and gelato, make up 90% of total revenue. The primary revenue stream, the ice cream sales, make up 70% alone.
The Proforma First Year Monthly Profit & Loss outlines the first twelve months of operations. The projected gross income at the top of each month will produce the projected net profit at the bottom. As previously stated, Springfield Ice Cream Shop will meet the financial breakeven point at the end of the third month. To do this a monthly gross income of less than $26,000 is required.
On the Proforma Profit & Loss table three years of gross income, expenses, and net profit are presented. It is important to note that expenses like the lease and utilities remain unchanged or virtually unchanged even with a significant increase in gross income. Other expenses, like labor and marketing, increase significantly over the three years, but remain in proportion to the gross income and net profit.
The Proforma Balance Sheet show the slight increase in inventory requirements over three years, but highlights the significant growth in owners’ equity for the same period of time.
The final three line graphs show monthly or quarterly gross income for one, three, and five years. The breakeven point is also marked on each to show its relation to gross income.
The following pictures show these financial statements and graphs for Springfield Ice Cream Shop.
