I woke in the middle of the night in Elliotâs arms and jumped up. Rushing around his living room, I searched for my clothes. How could I have been so stupid? I never should have stayed.
âWhat are you doing?â
âLooking for my clothes, I need to go.â The fire had dwindled, nothing but embers remained, and I couldnât find my bra.
âYou donât have to leave. Itâs late. Cold. Just stay.â
âI canât.â
âWhy?â Elliot sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. I wanted nothing more than to stay, but that would just make the morning super awkward, andâ¦
âIvy. She must be freaking out.â
âHas she called?â
I stopped and frowned. âWhat? No.â
âThen sheâs not freaking out.â
âBut, she sent me here. She dared me. I didnât go home. Oh my gosh, sheâs going to know something happened. Youâre her brother. Sheâs going to hate me.â
âAngel, relax,â Elliot said and stood, coming to a stop in front of me and resting his hand on my cheek.
âAngel?â
âYeah.â
âYou called me angel?â
âI did.â
âWhy?â
âNaked snow angels on my rug.â
I ducked my head in embarrassment. âOh.â
Elliot gripped my chin and tilted my face. âFeel free to do that again.â
âYou want me to make naked snow angels?â Why would he want me to do that again?
Elliot chuckled. âI just want you naked again.â
âElliot.â I shook my head. As much as I cherished every single second of our night, Ivy would kill me when she found out.
âNo.â He shook his head.
âWhat?â
âI know what youâre thinking. Ivy wouldnât care.â
âAbout?â He couldnât possibly believe Ivy wouldnât care that I had slept with her brother, again.
âWhy do you think she dared you to come here and ding dong ditch?â
âBecause she knows youâre not a serial killer and wouldnât hurt me?â That was the only reason, and because Elliot lived close by.
He shook his head and cupped my face in his large warm hands. âBecause she knows how I feel.â
My breath hitched, and my vision blurred. How he felt? âUhâ¦â
âShe knows because sheâs my best friend.â He brushed his lips against mine.
âKnows what?â
âThat Iâm in love with you,â he whispered.
My heart stopped. I opened my mouth, but I couldnât form words.
âI have been since our first night together, Elliot.â
Our first night? He remembered? How?
âYou remember?â
âBits and pieces. Yes. At first, I thought it was a dream, but it felt too real. And then each time I saw you, I responded to you in a way I hadnât before.â
âYou love me?â
He nodded. I launched myself at him. My arms around his neck, legs wrapped tightly around his waist. He chuckled.
âSo, youâre staying?â
I shrugged. âI kinda wanna make naked snow angels on your bed.â
âThatâs the only reason?â
âYep.â I nodded and pulled his bottom lip between my teeth.
âYou sure about that?â Elliot dropped me to my feet and stood back.
âFine,â I huffed and folded my arms across my chest. âMaybe I want to stay because I love you too.â
Elliot swooped in and scooped me off my feet and carried me upstairs to his room where he dropped me on his bed and gestured with wide arms.
