* * *

I woke in the middle of the night in Elliot’s arms and jumped up. Rushing around his living room, I searched for my clothes. How could I have been so stupid? I never should have stayed.

“What are you doing?”

“Looking for my clothes, I need to go.” The fire had dwindled, nothing but embers remained, and I couldn’t find my bra.

“You don’t have to leave. It’s late. Cold. Just stay.”

“I can’t.”

“Why?” Elliot sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. I wanted nothing more than to stay, but that would just make the morning super awkward, and…

“Ivy. She must be freaking out.”

“Has she called?”

I stopped and frowned. “What? No.”

“Then she’s not freaking out.”

“But, she sent me here. She dared me. I didn’t go home. Oh my gosh, she’s going to know something happened. You’re her brother. She’s going to hate me.”

“Angel, relax,” Elliot said and stood, coming to a stop in front of me and resting his hand on my cheek.

“Angel?”

“Yeah.”

“You called me angel?”

“I did.”

“Why?”

“Naked snow angels on my rug.”

I ducked my head in embarrassment. “Oh.”

Elliot gripped my chin and tilted my face. “Feel free to do that again.”

“You want me to make naked snow angels?” Why would he want me to do that again?

Elliot chuckled. “I just want you naked again.”

“Elliot.” I shook my head. As much as I cherished every single second of our night, Ivy would kill me when she found out.

“No.” He shook his head.

“What?”

“I know what you’re thinking. Ivy wouldn’t care.”

“About?” He couldn’t possibly believe Ivy wouldn’t care that I had slept with her brother, again.

“Why do you think she dared you to come here and ding dong ditch?”

“Because she knows you’re not a serial killer and wouldn’t hurt me?” That was the only reason, and because Elliot lived close by.

He shook his head and cupped my face in his large warm hands. “Because she knows how I feel.”

My breath hitched, and my vision blurred. How he felt? “Uh…”

“She knows because she’s my best friend.” He brushed his lips against mine.

“Knows what?”

“That I’m in love with you,” he whispered.

My heart stopped. I opened my mouth, but I couldn’t form words.

“I have been since our first night together, Elliot.”

Our first night? He remembered? How?

“You remember?”

“Bits and pieces. Yes. At first, I thought it was a dream, but it felt too real. And then each time I saw you, I responded to you in a way I hadn’t before.”

“You love me?”

He nodded. I launched myself at him. My arms around his neck, legs wrapped tightly around his waist. He chuckled.

“So, you’re staying?”

I shrugged. “I kinda wanna make naked snow angels on your bed.”

“That’s the only reason?”

“Yep.” I nodded and pulled his bottom lip between my teeth.

“You sure about that?” Elliot dropped me to my feet and stood back.

“Fine,” I huffed and folded my arms across my chest. “Maybe I want to stay because I love you too.”

Elliot swooped in and scooped me off my feet and carried me upstairs to his room where he dropped me on his bed and gestured with wide arms.
