Chapter Seven

Braelynn

New Years Eve

I look over my shoulder at the full-length mirror in Legend's bedroom, smoothing down the back of my little black dress. Legend insisted I needed it for the New Year’s Eve party we’re going to tonight at the clubhouse. I turn to the side, taking in how it hugs my curves in all the right places and makes me feel sexy for the first time since Ryder was born.

“Damn, baby,” Legend's voice rumbles from behind me.

I catch his reflection in the mirror as he approaches, his eyes roaming over my body appreciatively. “You look fucking incredible.”

I spin around to face him, a smile playing on my lips. “You clean up pretty well yourself, handsome.” And he does.

Legend's wearing dark jeans and a black button-down shirt, his leather cut hanging open over it. He’s trimmed up his beard, and his hair is styled in that perfectly messy way that makes me want to run my fingers through it.

He pulls me close, his hands resting on my hips. “We could stay home.” His brows waggle.

As tempting as that sounds, Kierra and her twin, Sierra, put a lot of work into planning the party, and it would be really rude to blow it off.

I shake my head. “As much as I love that idea, I want to go. It's our first New Year's together, and I want to celebrate with you and the club.”

Legend grins, leaning in to kiss me softly. “You’re right.”

“I like the sound of that.” I grin against his lips.

A cry from the other room interrupts our moment, and I sigh. “I'll get him.”

“Nah, I got it,” Legend offers, already heading towards Ryder's room. “You finish getting ready.”

I watch him go, my heart feeling like it could burst.

Over the past week, he’s thrown himself into fatherhood with a dedication that I never expected.

He gets up for the late-night feedings, doesn’t shy away from changing dirty diapers, and does all the other stuff in between.

I apply the final coat of Rocket-Fire Red lipstick just as Legend returns with Ryder in his arms. My lips turn up as I take them both in.

Pete and Re-Pete. I chuckle at the thought.

“You like playing dress-up with him, don’t you?” I point between the two of them. Our son is dressed in a onesie that says My First New Year's with the little leather cut over it that his daddy got him for Christmas.

My man cocks a brow. “Babe.”

I roll my eyes at him, then soften my face for my baby boy. “Look at my handsome boy,” I coo, pulling him into my arms. “Are you ready to party, little man?”

Ryder gurgles in response, his tiny fist reaching for my earring. I laugh as I gently move his hand away. “I'll take that as a yes.”

“You look beautiful, baby.”

“Thanks.”

“Are we ready to head out?”

I look around the room for anything I might have forgotten. Diaper bag—check. Extra clothes in case Ry has an accident—check. “Yeah, I think we’ve got everything.”

As we drive to the clubhouse, I think about the hopes I have for the New Year.
