Zahir watched from across the street as Leo exited the Ashland’s grocery. A smile was on his handsome lips, and Zahir couldn’t help the stab of jealousy that jabbed him in the gut.

Jealous?

What right do I have to be jealous?

Leo headed his way, and he did everything in his power to wipe any remnant of emotion off his face.

“Spying on me?” Leo asked.

“Get yourself that date with the bear?” Zahir asked.

A slight frown marred Leo’s handsome face. “Nope. We both do.”

“I’ve already told you how I fee—”

“Glenn wants us to take a run into the city for supplies. Deacon suggested you and I take point.”

Zahir stiffened. “And let me guess… you suggested Henry should go.”

Leo shook his head. “No. I didn’t. Glenn suggested it.”

The last thing Zahir wanted to witness was Leo hitting on Henry, but to do so would only raise questions. “Lovely.”

“Wouldn’t hurt to spend a little time with him,” Leo said.

“I already told you… you’re free to chase after the bear all you want. But keep me out of it.”

Leo stared intently, his head cocking to one side. “You’re jealous.”

Zahir pursed his lips and lifted one brow. “Not hardly.” He turned away and started walking away before Leo saw too much.

“See you here in the morning,” Leo called out. “Seven. I’ll get a team together.”

Zahir clenched his jaw and kept moving.
