Tattoo

If I were to get a tattoo,

I’d get a bouquet of flowers,

to tell of my life experience.

The first flower, a green carnation

- unnatural in nature, how I felt when I first had the grasp

of a trail to discovering myself.

The second flower, a sprig of lavender

- the first step on a road to acceptance, that maybe I am not

what the world says I must be.

And the last flower, a simple violet

For when I found myself, at last,

And came to realize

There’s nothing wrong with me;

There never was.
