CHAPTER 7

True Religion and

the New Morality of the Left

A Moral Crisis

While the political Left and Right in this country rarely agree on anything, there is at least one area in which they do. Our country is in a moral crisis. If you find yourself firmly on the side of the conservative Right, the idea that progressives are concerned at all with morality might come as a shock to you, but as we will see in this chapter, they are. And maybe even more so than the Right.

Don’t believe it? Just take a look at how often the Left appeals to morality when discussing policy making:

• Hilary Clinton declared families separated at the border “a moral crisis.”1

• A Los Angeles–based Unitarian Church voted to become a sanctuary for illegal immigrants.2

• Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) also tweeted that the issue of separating families at the border is “a moral crisis.”3

• Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) stated that the government’s role in the COVID-19 crisis was “an absolute moral imperative.”4

• Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) defended America’s “moral authority” at the COP26 climate summit.5

• Clinton, again, used the term “moral crisis,” this time to describe climate change.6

• Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) warned of an “immigration crisis” and stated that America is “losing our moral high ground” in regard to immigration.7

Statements like these, where the Left claims the moral high ground, may sound like political theater to conservatives, but it’s important to recognize that the Left isn’t being inauthentic. Contained within their words is an elite moral tapestry, constantly evolving and twisting, that they use to assume power and wage war against anyone who stands in their way. Far from the “godless party” they were once thought to be, the Woke radicals on the Left have made it abundantly clear that their sanctuary is the environment, their method of worship is sexuality, and their god is the State.

In fact, according to Emanuel Geltman, a proud socialist and a founding editor of Dissent magazine, one of the longest-running progressive publications in the nation, a “moral stance” is the primary thing that socialists can offer the world. (Yes, you read that right. Leading socialists believe their greatest contribution to the world is their high moral standard.)

In a 1958 article for Dissent arguing for nuclear disarmament, Geltman wrote:

In a world not of their making or choice, have socialists anything to offer but a moral stance? Against the harsh realities of world politics, morality might seem to be the least effective of instruments. . . . At a moment when no other defense has yet been devised against nuclear war, political morality is actually the last weapon left to mankind with which to save itself from destruction.8

In the same article, where the author wrote of “moral demand”9 and warned that “genuine peace is impossible”10 without “plunging the world into unimaginable horrors,” we see a glimpse into the dark Gnostic infrastructure of Leftist morals. Geltman reminds us it is from this condition, that is, the total alienation of man, in which Gnostic morals are forged.
