Once done, apply a finishing touch of your choice.

9: A Walking Stick

A walking stick is one of the many whittling projects that any whittler should try because besides being easy and fun, it is also very productive.

Here are the steps:

✓ Begin by finding a straight branch that has a diameter of about 11/8 inches. The height of the branch will depend on your height. Divide your height into two, then use that as the height for your walking stick.

✓

Round the top of the handle, then measure 2 inches from the top, and make a v-cut all round. Make the v-groove wider such that the top part becomes a knob. Then, remove the bark below the grove to accommodate your grip. After that, carve another small groove around the branch. Leave a bit of bark below the ring, then shave off the rest of the walking stick.
