Plans to return to Miz Loop’s are foiled today.

I have chores, and unbeknownst to us, Mama’s made other plans.

Today will be spent with Winona at P.O.P., Pacific Ocean Park.

Her daddy, we are told, will drop us off.

But we have a lead we need to follow, clues to be pursued, I explain.

Tomorrow is my mother’s answer. It’s just one more day.

Winter’s face spells setback, but my feelings are divided in half.

Part is excited to go to P.O.P., and part wants to continue the search for J.T.

If you want, I can help, Winter offers as I pin the clothes to the line.

Working together, we finish up in half the usual time.

I examine him for any trace of sadness but detect zero.

Some music has a flexible tempo—rubato—

and Winter, it seems, also goes with the flow.
