What are we – Needy or Greedy?

When is it we know that we have become selfish and greedy?

When material wealth means more than the plight of the needy?

There is so much material we gladly hoard;

Time spent on something we can barely afford.

For the greedy, shops are their paradise.

For them, the sight of goods is all so nice.

When there is abundance, who thinks of need?

Perhaps in people, there is some latent greed.

We sometimes compare ourselves with other’s success.

Where material is concerned, we naturally breed excess.

How does one, in this life, their true worth, measure?

Some gauge it by their mounting worldly treasure.

Great material wealth arises out of blatant greed.

The craving for goods, some day, we will not need.

When we appreciate how greed fills us,

Then we appreciate how want kills us.
