‘I CAN’T BE LONG.’ Hazel spoke slowly, wanting to keep her voice down. There was a group meeting set for this room and the women would soon be filing in. There had been an additional two women admitted to the centre today, so things were busy. ‘I tried to call you earlier but your phone was engaged.’

She frowned at Erin’s hasty words. ‘Leo? Why would you be calling L... What? Seriously? Zane’s sent him to look for Shir... Is that a good idea? Yes... yes, I know - I get that, but why the bloody hell didn’t you show him Skye’s phone last night? You said that y... What?’

Her eyes narrowed. The devious little bitch! Skye was clever. There was no doubt about that. ‘Shit, Erin. Now she’s got rid of the evidence wh...’

Hazel’s mouth fell open at Erin’s next words. ‘It was her? Skye leaked the story?’ Adrenaline thumped through her veins. All along that little cow had been the one to put her, these women, the Starbright and her own father at risk of being located, as well as the subsequent retaliation? Her heart picked up a fast pace. Marco learning of her whereabouts was getting closer by the day, but why hadn’t Erin told Zane about this?

Actually, she knew why. Zane wouldn’t believe her, so Erin was hedging her bets by going to Leo instead.

Skye Wilson had done a stunning job on everyone - the enemy within the fold. ‘What’s Leo doing with what you’ve told him? He’s going there now? Okay, but listen, you need to tell...’

Hazel paused as the group room door swung open.

‘Oh sorry!’ Skye focused on the mobile at Hazel’s ear. ‘I was about to prepare the room for the meeting, but I’ll come back in a moment.’

Hazel beckoned Skye in. Doing otherwise would look suspicious. She turned back to the mobile. ‘I’ve got to dash. We’ve got a meeting shortly. Yes... that’s correct.’ Erin knew of Skye’s presence. ‘Yes, absolutely... Well, I hope you manage your trip out this afternoon. Have a good time,’ she blagged, hoping the bullshit sounded convincing. ‘Catch up with you soon. Bye.’

Ending the call, Hazel smiled at Skye - a difficult task. This little cow had tried to set her up? Set them all up? She wanted to lay into her but she couldn’t. She had to wait.

‘I didn’t mean to interrupt,’ Skye said, her voice sweet, but suspicion lingered behind her eyes.

‘It’s fine,’ Hazel laughed. ‘I didn’t realise the time, but you’re right - the women’s therapy group starts soon.’

‘She likes to talk, doesn’t she?’ Twiddling a strand of her jet black hair, Skye looked at Hazel inquisitively.

‘Who?’

‘Erin. That’s who you were talking to, was it not? She likes to talk... Usually about me... She’s not getting any better, you realise. She’s worse, if anything. I heard you say she’s going out this afternoon. I didn’t think she was supposed to leave the house on her own. Where is she going?’

‘Oh, erm, I can’t remember exactly,’ Hazel blustered.
