Transcendence
T he answer to existence must transcend the temporal and contingent world. Wikipedia says, âIn religion, transcendence refers to the aspect of Godâs nature and power which is wholly independent of the material universe, beyond all physical laws.â
Mathematics, as pure Being, is wholly independent of the scientific universe of Becoming. The Laws of Being â the laws of the eternal and necessary order â are purely mathematical. They are not at all physical. Being has nothing to do with matter.
Wikipedia says, â[Transcendence] is contrasted with immanence, where a god is said to be fully present in the physical world and thus accessible to creatures in various ways.â
In science, immanence denotes that the whole of existence is contained within the spacetime universe of matter. Everything exists, operates, and remains within the physical universe. There is nothing outside the physical universe, nothing transcendent, nothing prior to the physical order.
Wikipedia says, âIn religious experience transcendence is a state of being that has overcome the limitations of physical existence and by some definitions has also become independent of it.â
Mathematics is the only subject that deals with true transcendence. Mathematics is both the language and substance of the mind and it transcends the material universe, as well as creating the material universe.
Wikipedia says, âTranscendence can be attributed to the divine not only in its being, but also in its knowledge. Thus, God may transcend both the universe and knowledge (is beyond the grasp of the human mind).â
Thanks to the PSR and Occamâs razor, no knowledge can transcend the mind. Reality is the most rationally and logically simple system it can possibly be, hence any rational and logical mind can straightforwardly arrive at the answer to existence. The problem is that the rational answer to existence is syntactic, but humans are overwhelmingly driven by empiricism (semantics), hence do not accept the syntactic answer. They invent any answer based on their empirical perceptions, emotions, desires, or mystical intuitions.
Mathematical knowledge transcends scientific knowledge, but does not transcend the ability of minds to know and understand it since all minds are in fact foundational mathematical entities. They are what they know.
Wikipedia says, âAlthough transcendence is defined as the opposite of immanence, the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Some theologians and metaphysicians of various religious traditions affirm that a god is both within and beyond the universe (panentheism); in it, but not of it; simultaneously pervading it and surpassing it.â
God â mathematics â both transcends the universe (as eternal and necessary Being), and is the universe (as temporal and contingent Becoming). So, mathematics is exactly that which is both transcendent and immanent.
Mathematics is holographic. The whole is in every part. The Singularity of Being is in every part of the material spacetime universe of Becoming.
Wikipedia says, âFor Kant, the âtranscendentâ, as opposed to the âtranscendentalâ, is that which lies beyond what our faculty of knowledge can legitimately know.â
Kant rejected pure reason. Pure reason, originating in the PSR, is in fact the only legitimate basis of true knowledge. Pure reason is the only thing we can authentically know.
