Remember that the word “aspect” means “to look at.” And when planets cast aspects, they are thought to cast rays of light. But looking, seeing, and light, have always been understood in terms of knowledge and control: think of what it means to say, “I see what you mean,” or to be “enlightened,” or when politicians speak of “looking at an issue,” or even that some political issue is “on the table,” as though it’s something that they will examine and do something about. But when things are in darkness and unseen, they suggest things that are not known, or are ignored, out of reach, and inaccessible—in a psychological context—are in the unconscious or subject to denial.

This is precisely what it means for planets to be in aversion to one another, or especially when a planet is in aversion to a sign which it rules: it means that there is some disconnect, some estrangement, ignorance, not seeing. In some contexts, it can even mean travel (i.e., not being present) or acting without much information. Let me show you two diagrams which illustrate this philosophically and practically:
