CHAPTER 17

December

I’m relieved to see cameras in every corner of our VIP lounge. Not that I’m concerned about my safety, but because I know Hollis will be watching me. We get settled in and gladly accept a round of shots compliments of my fiancé. The music is on point and the crowd outside of the VIP is wild; I’m loving every bit of it.

Strobe lights hang over the bar, and aerial performers hang from the ceiling. These must be the new additions Hollis was telling me about last week. He’s good at what he does, no wonder he owns successful clubs everywhere. We take in the atmosphere and sing along to a few songs and my girls have another drink.

“Ok, I’m ready to hit the floor.” Quinn stands up and twerks to the next song.

“Let’s get it bitches.” August sets down her drink and takes her purse off.

“I’m ready to rub my ass on a stranger.” Jezz says before sipping the rest of her drink through her skinny straw. She leaves her empty glass on the table and hip bumps Quinn.

“Eowwww!!” Quinn hollers. They all motion for me to get up while dancing provocatively. I laugh and shake my head.

“You tricks know I’m coming.” They all cheer and clap while I take off my purse and set down my drink.

We hold hands and make our way through the crowd keeping up with the beat of the music. We dance in a circle and throw our hands in the air, I dance with Jezz and that earns us cheers from the crowd. “That’s What I Like” comes on by Bruno Mars and we all holler and act out the song as we sing word for word. Our little circle draws attention and before I realize it, there’s a guy dancing behind all of us, including Quinn.

Jezz is true to her word and gyrates her ass on the guy she’s dancing with. August is doing exactly what Jezz is doing, and Quinn is the one who has an ass gyrating on his crotch. I can’t help but laugh at the scene before me. My friends are a mess. Whoever I’m dancing with certainly ain’t Hollis, but I enjoy myself anyway. I’m just careful not to make it look like I’m humping some guy on the dance floor.

I move forward slightly to have distance and promote a friendly dancing environment. He squats down to my ear.

“Hey what’s your name?” I keep dancing and figure it won’t hurt to share my name.

I turn to his ear. “December.” I responded.

“Cool name.” I nod and he keeps his distance while we finish out the song.

A slow song comes on and my crew immediately slow down their pace and continue dancing with their partners. I’m definitely drawing a line here. I turn around to find my tall muscular dance partner smiling down at me. Both his arms are covered in ink and his dark colored shirt fits snugly at his biceps. He’s cute, but not my type. His eyes are deep set and his nose looks like it may have been broken one too many times.
